New, beautiful, clean facility that is centrally located to the major points of visitation for temporary duty personnel. Base gym is nearby as is the base dining facility. In the lobby is Rickenbacker's (serves coffee, breakfast items, and a bar). Breakfast opens at 0600, bar at 1500.
Great view of the Bay. Courteous staff, room was clean. Overall great stay. I would definitely stay there again.
Excellent hotel. Very clean and the staff is quite helpful and friendly. Not too far from downtown Tampa, and the base has a private beach on walking distance from the hotel. No restaurant on site, though there is a small Cafe in the lobby that makes small snacks. Tampa does have a bit of a crime problem, so being able to visit the area while staying on a secure base makes things easier. At $60 a night the price cannot be beat.
Nice room, good location, right by the water surrounding the base. The whole area is beautiful and nicest looking base I've been to. The building is fairly new, you can tell. Good wifi, enough outlets. Food fairly near. Good service at the front desk. Only issue I had was the elevators are pretty centrally located in the building so getting my stuff to my room was a bit of a trek. Really minor though. Overall satisfied.
I stayed here multiple times during my PCS to MacDill. The first time was 10 days with my family in the temporary lodging facility - a two-bedroom apartment setting with in-unit laundry and a full kitchen. This was a great experience for our family except for one day of missed housekeeping service. The second stay was in the main lodging facility by myself. The room was spacious and clean. The room had a mini fridge and microwave with a walk-in closet. A comparable room in town would likely cost at least twice as much. I recommend this place.
