I contacted their customer service about my experience the following day. As of writing this review, I have yet to hear back, and it's been 10 days. I saved a few dollars a day renting with them, but it's worth it to spend an extra $10/day to rent a car from a company that place a higher value on customer satisfaction.
We rented a car from Fox last week (October 10-14, 2017) and we had a wonderful experience with this company. When we arrived, it took approximately 20 minutes to receive our car. We received the car that we requested online before we arrived in Tampa. The price was very reasonable and return check in was a breeze. We were picked and delivered back to the airport in a timely manner.
Had to wait at airport for shuttle nearly 1/2 hour. Once we got there, only 2 people were ahead of us. Both at counter for felt like an hour. Our service rep was very nice, but the other was arguing with a difficult guest. Although the price and car was nice, I would rather pay more for convenience and efficiency.
All the employees I encountered were friendly and working as efficiently as possible. The shuttle driver (on the way back) was helpful and cheery. The car I rented was clean and ran smoothly. However, from an operational standpoint, this business was understaffed and delivered a very low quality customer service experience.
Car was excellent and no problem with prices or service. Only complaint was that from the on line rental site it implies the location is just across from the airport but it's a 10+ min. shuttle ride & not a quick 3 min across from the airport ride. Other complaint is after waiting for the shuttle & then arriving at the rental location, it was another 30+ min. wait in line for service. Landed at 4:30pm & it was near 6pm before I drove off in the rental car. Morning drop off & airport shuttle was much better.
I would recommend Fox Rental Car! We will be using this company again.
Understaffed all around. Extra shuttle buses were sitting around at the lot, but no drivers to drive them. Even if there were drivers, the limited number of staff behind the counter couldn't have handled more customers. (It seemed like they were all sharing the same printer/copy machine that seemed to be about a decade behind, running slowly and jamming ever so often.) Even if there were more staff behind the counter, the representatives in the parking lot wouldn't have been able to work quick enough to clean the cars, pull them around, and inspect them with customers prior to checking them out. From an operational standpoint, the lack of sufficient staffing led to me incurring additional expenses (paying for a taxi ride from the airport to the Fox lot) and spending a total of 2hrs 10 mins trying to get my car.
The airport rentals were sold out and I found Fox as an off-premise option. It's not too far from the airport and the rental process went fine. They take a large upfront charge against your credit card and refund a portion when you return. Give yourself extra time on return as we found the process took us 30 minutes from pulling in to leaving on the shuttle to the airport. Car was nice and staff were friendly, so an overall good experience.
